Baby Lilly Has Arrived
Lilly Ryce Waldron was born April 17th at 12:42 pm. She was 6 pounds, 9 ounces and 18.5 inches. My labor was very easy. We went to the hospital around 3 a.m and my contractions were 5-10 minutes apart. I had my epidural around 7:30 am, started pushing at 12:12, and thirty minutes she was here! Because Lilly had a bowel movement while she was inside of me the NICU team was in the delivery room to suction her mouth and airways before she took her first breath. If a baby aspirates meconium into their lungs it can cause serious infection. When Lilly was born she also had some respiratory distress. Because of the meconium and respiratory distress she spent the first three days in the PCN (Progressive Care Nursery) on oxygen, heart monitors, and antibiotics. Everything is great now and she left the hospital a healthy baby girl.
It's so hard to believe that 4 weeks have already passed. It feels like just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital. At her 2 week weight check she was 7 pounds 4 ounces and 20.5 inches. She was in the 70th percentile for her height and the 40th percentile for her weight. After her two week appointment we took her to have her pictures taken. (I will post them) They turned out really good and we were really happy with them.
Everything at home is good. We are a little sleepy, but Lilly sleeps awesome at night. She is starting to sleep almost 5 hours in between her feedings. Our friends and family have been amazing and have brought over breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which has been a huge help. We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family in our lives. Two weeks ago we had to get rid of Ella (our puppy). She was really jealous when we brought Lilly home and was not nice to her. Ella would growl and bark at Lilly, therefore, we had to keep her in the kitchen and she got really depressed. She has a good home now, with no kids, and is getting all the attention she deserves.
We are so lucky to have such a happy, healthy baby and thank God every day for all he has blessed us with. We can't wait to experience all that the future holds for us.
